Best Items For TFT Classes

Hey there! 👋 I’m Piotr, a seasoned TFT Coach 👈 and a Challenger Player.

In today’s article we will take a deep dive into the subject of itemization in Teamfight Tactics. Units will be divided by class and then sorted by cost, so you can see how to itemize (and whether it’s worth to do it) any unit in the game. Building the best TFT items is crucial to win the game!

Best items for TFT Blademaster

FIORA

Fiora is a one cost unit that’s both a cybernetic (one of the strongest TFT classes at the time of writing this article) and a blademaster. Fiora being a cybernetic makes you really want to put something on her to really utilize her origin. She is quite squishy, but has a very high native attack speed – 1.0 attacks per second. Within the TFT meta Fiora is a great unit to get early on since cybernetics allow you to winstreak early game.

What items for TFT Fiora?

  • Any one part (to proc Cybernetics Origin)
  • Stattik Shiv (Tear of Goddess + Recurve Bow)
  • Guardian Angel (Chain Vest + B.F. Sword)

Why these items for TFT Fiora?

I suggest those items for TFT Fiora because you either want to proc her Origin Trait by putting just about anything on her, or use her as an item holder. Stattik shiv is an item she makes a good use of due to her decent early game spell and a very high base attack speed, and Guardian Angel makes a early 2cost unit twice as strong.

XAYAH

Being a one cost unit Xayah is easy to three star, which is the only situation she’s worth fully investing items into. Xayah is a TFT Celestial Blademaster, meaning she often finds her way to join a Protector comp that pivots towards celestials. While she might seem not very threatening, her extreme attack speed with Rageblade and a Giant Slayer can quickly shred the enemy team.

What items for TFT Xayah?

  • Guinsoo’s Rageblade (Recurve Bow + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Stattik Shiv (Recurve Bow + Tear of the Goddess)
  • Quicksilver Sash (Negatron Cloak + Sparring Glove)

Why these items for TFT Xayah?

Xayah is a TFT Blademaster whose ability is just to attack faster – so all we want to do is best utilize that, by putting items that best stack with high attack speed on her. Another great items would be Stattik Shiv or Guardian Angel. I do not suggest Bloodthirster mainly because you will most likely play some celestials for that juicy life steal.

SHEN

Shen is the tankiest TFT blademaster, a true frontliner. His ability differs from his Set 1 counter part, because it’s now better – it also provides Armor and Magic Armor. You’d rather not put items on him, but if you do it would be something that allows him to stay for longer on the front line.

Shen is currently a strong TFT Meta champion.

If you would like to learn about the currently strong team comps, check out 👉 NEW TFT META AND NEW TEAM COMPS 👈

What items for TFT Shen?

  • Bramble Vest (Chain Vest + Chain Vest)
  • Warmog’s (Giant Belt + Giant Belt)
  • Guardian Angel (B.F Sword + Chain Vest)

Why these items for TFT Shen?

Those items suit TFT Shen the most because they allow him to stay on the front line as long as possible, the best item probably being bramble vest – it allows him to also do a lot of damage.

Yasuo

Yasuo is highly contested in TFT. He’s part of the TFT Rebel origin, which is played A LOT. His ulti has a pretty clever targetting – it always targets the unit with the most items, so itemized he could destroy enemy carries. I would suggest only itemizing TFT Yasuo if you happen to get him 3-starred.

What items for TFT Yasuo?

  • Bloodthirster (B.F. Sword + Negatron Cloak)
  • Infinity Edge (B.F. Sword + Sparring Glove)
  • Hand of Justice (Sparring Glove + Tear of Goddess)

Why these items for TFT Yasuo?

Yasuo is only great if you happen to 3-star him. If you happened to do it, you can put some offensive items on him, HoJ working the best because it allows him to ulti quickly while still improving his offensive capabilities.

MASTER YI

Master Yi is a bit like Yasuo right now – mostly played for the sake of TFT Rebels. You most of the time would like to avoid itemizing him, because on two stars he is not so strong, and he is way harder to 3-star than Yasuo. His ability allows him to heal continously while dealing extra damage with each attack.

What items for Master Yi?

  • Guardian Angel (B.F. Sword + Chain Vest)
  • Guinsoo’s Rageblade (Recurve Bow + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Bloodthirster (B.F. Sword + Negatron Cloak)

Why these items for TFT Master Yi?

Master Yi already gets extra damage on his attacks through his ability, so what you’d like to maximize is how much he autoattacks, not the strength of his autos. Nonetheless, still not a great item holder.

IRELIA

TFT Irelia is the main carry for most cybernetics comps. Whenever she kills a unit her ulti refreshes, so she really wants to one-shot squishies to continue ulting. She is very versatile with items though, as she can uses nearly every component well. Other than the items suggested below, she works great with an infiltrator spatula.

What items for TFT Irelia?

  • Bloodthirster (B.F. Sword + Negatron Cloak)
  • Infinity Edge (B.F. Sword + Sparring Glove)
  • Guardian Angel (B.F. Sword + Chain Vest)

Why these items for TFT Irelia?

TFT Irelia is a unit that you want to itemize for in Cybernetics comp, your main carry. Put as much damage on her as possible so she can jump from target to target – that would be ideal most of the time, but Guardian Angel or even Blue Buff could work well too.

RIVEN

As another 4 cost unit, TFT Riven can be used to carry the game. She’s a Blademaster, and a Chrono, used in several top TFT comps such as sorcerers, where she’s the main carry due to her ridiculous AP scalings, and blademaster due to her trait. Her ultimate allows her to tank tons of damage throughout the fight, and items such as Rabaddon and Quicksilver allow her to continuously shield herself. Other items worth mentioning would be Bramble Vest and Ionic Spark.

What items for TFT Riven?

  • Guardian Angel (B.F. Sword + Chain Vest)
  • Rabaddon’s Deathcap (Needlessly Large Rod + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Quicksilver Sash (Sparring Glove + Negatron Cloak)

Why these items for TFT Riven?

Riven scales mostly Ability Power and survivability, therefore making sure she doesn’t get crowd controlled and that her shields are as big as possible is the key to win with her.

Best items for TFT Mystics

CASSIOPEIA

Cassiopeia is one of the new mystics and one of the new Battlecast units. She’s the most offensive mystic up to date. Her ability is a soft counter to protectors due to the fact it decreases the value of shields. It can also deal tons of damage over time, although her base attack range is very low so she might be focused before she gets her ability off multiple times.

What items for TFT Cassiopeia?

  • Blue Buff (Tear of the Goddess + Tear of the Goddess)
  • Morellonomicon (Giant Belt + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Giant Slayer (B.F. Sword + Recurve Bow)

Why these items for TFT Cassiopeia?

TFT Cassiopeia can do well with many items, those listed above are just some of them, as they elevate her strengths (low mana pool, the ability to poison many targets). She’s a great holder for RFC due to her low range and Luden’s Echo due to her low mana pool as well.

BARD

Bard is a 3 cost unit and sets 3.5 addition to the Mystic TFT class. He’s also a TFT Astro, meaning he serves the role of that traits enabler until all the other units are found. He’s incredibly weak on his own, but found early he can snowball you due to his ultimate. By playing Bard you’re essentialy trading your strength short-term for long-term value.

What items for TFT Bard?

  • Spear of Sho’jin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)
  • Spear of Sho’jin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)
  • Spear of Sho’jin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)

Why these items for TFT Bard?

TFT Bard is a unit you nearly never want to itemize for. His AP scaling is abyssmal, his attacks are among the weakest, Blue Buff works poorly because his mana pool is fairly big. Therefore the only item I would consider putting on him is Spear of Sho’jin, as it allows him to cast his ability much more often. It’s worth it – a lucky early game Bard with Spear of Sho’jin can get you dozens of XP of value. Use that knowledge to your advantage the next time you get him from the first minion rounds!

KARMA

Karma is probably the weakest mystic unit in the game right now. She has a big mana cost and her ultimate is not as good as it was at the time of her introduction to the game, she serves you mostly by being a TFT Mystic, which is an extremely strong supporting class.

What items for TFT Karma?

  • None. Do not itemize Karma please!
  • If you have to – Blue Buff (Tear of the Goddess + Tear of the Goddess)
  • Shroud of Stillness (Sparring Glove + Chain Vest)

Why these items for TFT Karma?

Karma being a mystic, unlike most of the TFT classes does not benefit from items very much, most of the fights she will just cast one ulti and die. She can still bear generic items like Shroud of Stillness well, but you’d rather not put items on her.

SORAKA

Soraka is the most supportive unit to ever exist within the Teamfight Tactics Meta. Her ultimate allows her to heal her entire team for a lot, while she’s providing an extremely strong Class Trait in the form of being a TFT Mystic. She doesn’t scale well with items, but that doesn’t mean she’s weak, quite the opposite in fact – she doesn’t need them to be strong.

Soraka is a powerful unit, even though she’s just a support. That’s how you can think about a TFT Coach. 👈

What items for TFT Soraka?

  • Shroud of Stillness (Sparring Gloves + Chain Vest)
  • Rabadon’s Deathcap (Needlessly Large Rod + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Blue Buff (Tear of the Goddess + Tear of the Goddess)

Why these items for TFT Soraka?

TFT Soraka is very strong by herself, so you would rather not itemize her. But if you have a Rabaddon, you could theoretically make her very annoying if your opponents play tanky, grindy type of comps like TFT protectors by putting as much AP as you can on her.

LULU

Lulu is the only Legendary Mystic. Her skill allows her to reduce several of the enemy units threat level to zero by turning them into critters. Main issue with it is a pretty huge mana cost, so it’s not easy to itemize her well.

What items for TFT Lulu?

  • Spear of Shojin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)
  • Spear of Shojin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)
  • Shroud of Stillness (Sparring Glove + Chain Vest)

Why these items for TFT Lulu?

Itemizing Lulu is not a priority, but an item that gives her the most casts is Spear of Shojin, Lulu’s best TFT item, because it’s mana gain is based on champion’s maximum mana.

Best items for TFT Demolitionists

ZIGGS

Ziggs is a one cost TFT demolitionist and also a part of the Rebel comp. It’s a great early unit with a low mana single target burst, a unit that can act as an item holder for items such as Blue Buff, making great use of them through winstreaks.

What items for TFT Ziggs?

  • Blue Buff (Tear of the Goddess + Tear of the Goddess)
  • Rabaddon’s Deathcap (Needlessly Large Rod + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Jewelled Gauntlet (Sparring Glove + Needlessly Large Rod)

Why these items for TFT Ziggs?

Ziggs is a unit whose spell is low mana, high damage, single target burst, so best you can do with him is utilize Blue Buff and Spell power items. Ultimately, you’d like to 2star another Ziggs, so you can sell the first one and switch his items to a better unit if you’re playing a TFT Rebel comp.

RUMBLE

Rumble is a three cost TFT Mech Pilot and a Demolitionist. Rumble’s not a very strong unit, but his main strength is not of himself, it’s his Origin as a Mech Pilot. That’s why stacking tanky items on him works well.

What items for TFT Rumble?

  • Guardian Angel (B.F. Sword + Chain Vest)
  • Titan’s Resolve (Recurve Bow + Chain Vest)
  • Titan’s Resolve (Recurve Bow + Chain Vest)

Why these items for TFT Rumble?

TFT Rumble is not great with all those Titan’s Resolve by himself – Titan’s Resolve’s are what you want for your Giant Mech that Mech Pilots combine to. It allows the Mech to stay alive while still dealing a lot of damage.

GANGPLANK

Gangplank is definitely one of the best units in the game. His ability is insane, you can improve it due to his mercenary trait to cover the entire screen as well. Gangplank is unit that you wants to put your items to, and below we’ll go through the best ones.

What items for TFT Gangplank?

  • Morellonomicon (Needlessly Large Rod + Giant Belt)
  • Guardian Angel (B.F. Sword + Chain Vest)
  • Rabaddon’s Deathcap (Needlessly Large Rod + Needlessly Large Rod)

Why these items for TFT Gangplank?

TFT Gangplank has one of the highest area of effect ultis in the game, allowing him to apply Morellonomicon‘s debuff easily to the entire enemy team. It deals a lot of damage, so Rabaddon’s Deathcap works well. Guardian Angel is to make him ult atleast once.

Best items for TFT Protectors

JARVAN IV

TFT Jarvan IV is a Dark Star / Protector 1 cost unit with an ability that improves attack speed of units around his banner. He’s a decent supportive unit that allows his carries to really get rolling.

What items for TFT Jarvan IV?

  • Locket (Needlessly Large Rod + Chain Vest)
  • Frozen Heart (Tear of the Goddess + Chain Vest)
  • Zz’rot Portal (Giant Belt + Recurve Bow)

Why these items for TFT Jarvan IV?

TFT Jarvan IV is only worth putting items on if he’s three starred, therefore our suggestion is Locket or Zz’rot – items that work well with a tanky 3 star.

XIN ZHAO

Xin Zhao is a 2 cost Celestial / Protector and one of the strongest early game units. He’s naturally tanky due to being able to activate his ulti fairly quickly, activating his protector shield. Usually three starred in any protector based TFT team composition.

What items for TFT Xin Zhao?

  • Dragon Claw (Negatron Cloak + Negatron Cloak)
  • Bramble Vest (Chain Vest + Chain Vest)
  • Warmog’s (Giant Belt + Giant Belt)

Why these items for TFT Xin Zhao?

TFT Xin Zhao can become one of the strongest early game units in the game when given a bramble vest, as it usually leads to long, grindy games where the item truly shines on a unit that lives forever. Other items suggested above – Warmog’s and Dragon Claw – further on buff his survivability.

RAKAN

TFT Rakan, just like Xin Zhao, is a 2 cost Celestial / Protector. Unlike him though, he’s a ranged unit, and a fairly squishy one. His ultimate is a powerful crowd control AoE ability with a high mana cost, making Spear of Sho’jin the most valuable item on Rakan.

What items for TFT Rakan?

  • Morellonomicon (Giant Belt + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Spear of Sho’jin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)
  • Frozen Heart (Tear of the Goddess + Chain Vest)

Why these items for TFT Rakan?

TFT Rakan scales well with all of those items, because: Spear of Sho’jin allows him to ult constantly, Frozen heart works wonders because his ultimate puts him into the middle of the enemy pack, and Morellonomicon works well because he’s usually the unit with the most AoE in a protector team comp.

NEEKO

Neeko is a 3 cost Star Guardian / Protector unit. Her ultimate is an AoE stun, except slightly less reliable than Rakan’s, because it requires you to position her on the frontline, while Rakan can be positioned in a safer position due to his ultimate being targeted rather than self centered. One of the weaker protectors.

What items for TFT Neeko?

  • Guardian Angel (Chain Vest + B.F. Sword)
  • Ionic Spark (Negatron Cloak + Needlessly Large Rod)
  • Zz’rot Portal (Giant Belt + Recurve Bow)

Why these items for TFT Neeko?

TFT Neeko can work well, but Guardian Angel is absolutely neccessary if you want her to carry your team comp. Otherwise she might end up dying before casting a single ult, while Ionic Spark is the best TFT item choice for frontline casters.

URGOT

Urgot is the new legendary Protector unit and a Battlecast. His ability is fairly incredible – it allows him to obliterate an enemy unit, literally. The ability damage ignores the Guardian Angel effects as well, allowing him to completely counter GA based carries such as Riven or Gangplank.

What items for TFT Urgot?

  • Spear of Shojin (Tear of the Goddess + B.F. Sword)
  • Guardian Angel (Chain Vest + B.F. Sword)
  • Quicksilver (Negatron Cloak + Sparring Glove)

Why these items for TFT Urgot?

TFT Urgot makes great use of several items. Spear of Sho’jin allows him to ulti several times. Quicksilver makes sure he doesn’t get locked in a chain of crowd control effects. Guardian Angel is great because it allows him to obliterate units that were ‘grappled’ before his first death, as the effect persists over Guardian Angel’s revival.
